The poem of the week format has been a critical component of my literacy instruction in the primary grades. I am able to cover a wide range of needed comprehension skills without a heavy amount of text. Poetry is easier to differentiate for special needs and ELL learners than a word-intensive picture book or novel study.
Over the past year, I have spent countless hours writing, crafting, and illustrating four units to cover the entire school year! These poetry units have been a labor of love. From the hours I spent illustrating, designing, and rhyming, I’m so thrilled that this year-long pack loaded with centers and fun IS DONE!
I am truly honored that so many classrooms and homeschools across the world have used them to inspire a love of language in their students.
Here’s some real feedback from our happy teachers using the units:
“Great for literacy centers; I really like the fact that they can practice identifying parts of speech and rebuild the poem. Lots of great reading practice!” (from our Spring Poems Pack)
“This is a wonderful and comprehensive poem resource. Thanks for sharing!” (from our Fall Freebie Poem Unit )
Karen and I are so excited to finally bundle all FOUR units (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) for 30% the original prices in our new Poem of the Week for the ENTIRE year Mega PACK! It’s less than a dollar a week.
I invite you to “test drive” a week from our Spring, Autumn, and Winter units, to see if the format works for your students. Each original poem has two stanzas and has nine corresponding activities and centers to aid in comprehension. Just click the picture to be taken to TpT for the free download.
We know you will LOVE our labor of love: 35 original poems with great meter and rhyme. Each poem has 9 centers to review critical skills in literacy instruction. It’s a win-win. These packs are print and go. Your students will be immersed in good poetry while meeting many literacy benchmarks and standards.
Here’s a closer look at SOME of the 350 pages you will have ready to go each week! Just print and TEACH!
